Prof. Jorge Hernández is a Full time Professor (Profesor Titular) at Adolfo Ibáñez’s University. His main research areas are ​modelling, simulation and optimization of Enterprise decision-making processes in operations and supply chain management domains. Prof. Hernandez obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering in 2011 from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This PhD was evaluated considering a maximum cum-laude distinction as well as a European mention. In 2014 he received the award for the best doctoral thesis from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. From 2011 to 2021, Prof. Hernandez was Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, where in 2016 he received the Best Researcher award. From 2019 to 2021 he was the Director of the Master’s Program in Business Analytics and Big Data, participating in AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditation processes. Between 2016 and 2021. Prof. Hernandez was Director and Principal Investigator of the European project H2020 RUC-APS, which is a €1.3M project (CLP $1000 M approx.), where he led a team of more than 150 researchers, distributed in 18 institutions from 8 countries (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, China, Argentina and Chile), to improve the decision-making processes of agri-food value chains that suffer from uncertainty and high risks. At the same time, Prof. Hernandez led several UKRI projects to work on applied research solutions to the UK agri-food value chain. In total, Prof. Hernandez has been involved in more than 20 international research projects in the last 10 years. With more than 60 indexed publications, including journals, books and chapters, considering an h-index of 16, Prof. Hernandez focuses his research on understanding business problems in the real world and providing tangible solutions based on applied research in the field of management. operations and supply chains. With more than 20 years of professional experience in the development and application of operations management methods in the manufacturing, health and agri-food industries, Prof. Hernandez is considered internationally as a genuine expert in developing applied impact and research to enhance decision-making performance in organisations. Currently, Prof. Jorge Hernández collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile and is also Honorary Professor at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
