We attended Proyecta Solar 2026, and our shared impression is unanimous: solar energy in Chile has moved beyond being a promise and has become a systemic challenge in terms of infrastructure and management.

We shared with more than 1,700 attendees at an event that demonstrated the tremendous maturity of our sector. The days when the sole objective was to increase installed capacity are long gone; today, the dialogue is much deeper. We spoke frankly about the urgent need to modernize distribution networks, the real costs of connection, and how energy storage has gone from being an “extra” to a critical infrastructure for reliability.

At CENTRA, we wanted to be part of this discussion by contributing technology and concrete solutions. Luis Gutierrez, Project Director, presented Visión DERRED. This web platform, built through a collaborative effort with the industry, allows for data management, automated modeling of our distribution networks, and evaluation of the impact of integrating new energy resources (DERs). It is a tool specifically designed to unblock capacity studies (HC) in PMGD and Net Billing projects, providing the technical transparency the market needs.

We leave with the firm conviction that pitting large centralized systems against distributed generation is a dichotomy of the past. Chile’s electricity future requires both to coexist. However, to take this next leap, we need regulation to advance at the same pace as technology, reducing friction and strengthening public-private collaboration.

We are building the energy transition with data, and the conversation has only just begun.
