Daniel Olivares
“Daniel Olivares Quero is Associate Professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences of the Adolfo Ibañez University and Director of the UAI Center for Energy Transition (CENTRA). He has more than 12 years of experience in scientific studies and techno-economic analysis of the electricity sector in the national and international context. He holds a degree in Electrical Civil Engineering from the University of Chile, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He has made scientific contributions in the field of control, operation and planning of energy systems, which have been published in the most prestigious international journals in the field, and he has been invited to offer seminars at Universities in Europe and North America. He is an Associate Researcher at the Solar Energy Research Center (SERC-Chile), Associate Researcher at the Instituto Sistemas Complejos de Ingeniería (ISCI), and Associate Editor from the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grids.
Prof. Olivares has been a consultant for the Ministry of Energy, the National Energy Commission, the Chilean Independent Electricity System Operator (Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional), and the World Bank, on issues related to the regulation of the Distribution Systems in Chile, the analysis of competition in the Ancillary Services Market, and the Capacity Mechanism in Chile, among others. In 2019, Prof. Olivares participated as an expert in the Ministerial Advisory Commission for the design of a strategy for the integration of Flexibility in the Chilean electricity system.”
