Electrification and Flexibility of the Chilean power system
Electrification and Flexibility of the Chilean power system
A four-strand programme tackling the regulatory and planning bottlenecks that currently hold back flexibility and electrification in Chile, with concrete proposals for government and the market.
Objective
PurposeChile’s power system already produces more renewable energy than it can use at certain hours, while peak demand grows and the electrification of transport, heating and industry advances. The programme aims for flexibility (storage, demand response, distributed generation) to be planned, remunerated and operated as a system resource rather than as an exception.
